For what purpose and legitimacy do we process the data and to whom is it communicated?

  • Contact. We will address inquiries from individuals who contact us via email, contact forms on our website, or by phone. We process this information with the recipient's consent

  • Institutional directories. We register the data of individuals, including representatives of legal entities, public and private, with whom there are relationships to establish institutional relations and communication for the exercise of the same functions of the Foundation. The data is processed in compliance with a mission of public interest. It is not communicated to other persons outside the Foundation.

  • Research management. The personal data of individuals who have agreed to participate in research projects or their legal representatives is recorded to analyze results and for statistical treatment. The data is processed based on the consent of the concerned individual and in compliance with a mission of public interest (research and higher education). The data is not communicated to other parties.

How long do we retain the data?

We comply with the legal obligation to limit the data retention period to the maximum. For this reason, we keep the data only for the time necessary and justified by the purpose. In certain cases, such as data contained in the institutional directory, they are retained while the interested parties maintain their professional or representative status, or until they request deletion. In the case of personal data processed for research purposes, they are deleted when the project dynamics allow and only anonymized data is retained.

What rights do individuals have regarding the data we process?

As established in the General Data Protection Regulation, individuals whose data we process have the following rights:

  • Knowing if they are processed. Everyone has, first of all, the right to know if we process their data, regardless of whether a prior relationship has existed.

  • Being informed upon collection. When personal data is collected from the same individual, at the time of providing it, clear information must be given about the purposes for which it will be used, who will be responsible for the processing, and the main aspects arising from this processing.

  • Accessing it. A very broad right that includes knowing exactly what personal data is being processed, the purpose for which it is processed, any communications to other individuals (if any), and the right to obtain a copy or know the expected lifespan.

  • Requesting rectification. The right to rectify inaccurate data that we process.

  • Requesting deletion. Under certain circumstances, there is the right to request the deletion of data when, among other reasons, it is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it was collected and justified.

  • Requesting limitation of processing. Also, under certain circumstances, the right to request the limitation of data processing is recognized. In this case, it will no longer be processed and will only be retained for the exercise or defense of claims, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation.

  • Data portability. The right to receive personal data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable and interoperable format, or to request that it be transferred in this way to another data controller. This right is recognized when the same individual has provided the personal data through consent or when processing is necessary for the execution of a contract. It is not recognized when the processing has a different legal basis than consent or contract.

  • Objecting to processing. An individual may cite reasons related to their particular situation, reasons that will lead to the cessation of processing their data to the extent that it may cause harm, except for legitimate reasons or the exercise or defense against claims.

  • Not receiving information. We respond immediately to requests to stop receiving information about our activities and services when these communications were solely based on the recipient's consent.

How can rights be exercised or defended?

The rights we have just enumerated can be exercised by sending a request to the Blanquerna Foundation at the postal address or other contact details indicated in the header. If a satisfactory response has not been obtained in exercising the rights, it is possible to file a complaint with the Catalan Data Protection Authority through the forms or other channels available on their website (www.apd.cat). In all cases, whether to file complaints, request clarifications, or send suggestions, you can contact the Data Protection Officer by email at dpd@blanquerna.url.edu.
